2012, A Year In Review

2012 was an exciting year, and it all started with a kiss at midnight.

Today: I finished a book.

My dear husband, Joel, loves to read.

It wasn't long after we started dating, that we discovered our differences in the "ideal Saturday afternoon." Like most girls, my ideal Saturday would be a day at the mall with a large margin of spending money, followed by a romantic dinner watching the sun set over the lake. Where Joel would find few things more appealing than sitting in silence at home reading a book.

The thought of reading has always made my skin crawl. But, in a moment of weakness at the bookstore a month ago, Joel bought me a book and I agreed to read it.

I finished it today. As much as I wanted to hate reading the book and prove him wrong that I wouldn't enjoy it, I found myself getting emotionally involved with the characters in the book. I laughed with them, I cried with them.

Perhaps this is my first step as a new wife in learning what it means to submit.
